Visiting Scholars Policy

ACDIS Visiting Scholars

  • ACDIS sponsors Visiting Scholars upon recommendation and supervision by ACDIS Faculty.
  • ACDIS Visiting Scholars must have a research topic related to arms control and/or domestic or international security during their stay with ACDIS.
  • Unless otherwise notified, ACDIS Visiting Scholars must be fully funded outside of ACDIS.
  • ACDIS Visiting Scholars must be willing to provide all materials required by ACDIS and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to coordinate their stay.
  • ACDIS Visiting Scholars will be offered office space and access to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library.
  • ACDIS Visiting Scholars are encouraged to participate as experts and speakers in ACDIS events.
  • ACDIS Visiting Scholars are encouraged to attend ACDIS events and activities.
  • ACDIS Visiting Scholars are encouraged to attend relevant University of Illinois courses.
  • ACDIS Visiting Scholars are expected to actively engage with students and faculty.
  • ACDIS Visiting Scholars are expected to present their research through at least one ACDIS-sponsored event.
  • ACDIS Visiting Scholars are expected to publish research through an ACDIS publication.

ACDIS Benefits for Scholars

  • Publications: ACDIS Visiting Scholars may publish their work in ACDIS publications, including research papers, policy briefs, and opinion pieces.
  • Presentations: ACDIS Visiting Scholars may present their work at ACDIS-sponsored events.
  • Spotlight on research: ACDIS Visiting Scholars have an opportunity to showcase their research and activities on the ACDIS website and events.
  • Network and Interdisciplinary Research: ACDIS Visiting Scholars will join ACDIS’ network and listserv, and can contact other students and faculty at the University of Illinois who share similar research interests.
